Meet Dr. Chris Lockwood:
In 2002 I was in Antarctica, roped up to a glacier search and rescue team on a clear, beautiful day. Standing on that mountain of ice at what seemed like the edge of the world; I knew I could do whatever I set my mind to do.
My interest in chiropractic medicine started long before my time in Antarctica. When I was in high school, I hurt my back while playing football. At the time, sports meant everything to me and sitting injured on the sidelines was unacceptable. The school physical therapist referred me to a chiropractor. To be honest, I was skeptical, but the positive office experience and my profound recovery made a lasting impression.
When considering chiropractic schools, I had an additional, deeply personal motivation. In 1998, my mother was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She combated the disease with a combination of traditional Western medicine and naturopathic medicine. Thankfully she survived. The balanced treatment approach helped her to battle the disease and better cope with and recover from the negative side effects. Her experience instilled in me the importance of collaborative medicine and holistic treatments for my patients. I chose Western States Chiropractic College specifically because of their integrated biomechanical health and wellness philosophy. I graduated summa cum laude from
Western States.
I believe nutrition, exercise, and stress management are interdependent pieces to a person's well being. To help a patient, treatment needs to be tailored to the individual and based on a person’s physiology, fitness level, and everyday environment. I welcome working with patients and in tandem with other health care professionals to offer the best care to the individual.
